LIBER 2023 will be held October 4-6 in Madrid

The 41st edition of LIBER is shaping up to be the largest business platform in our country dedicated to Spanish-language publishing.
IFEMA MADRID and the Federation of Publishers’ Guilds of Spain (FGEE) convene the publishing sector in the 41st edition of LIBER, which, faithful to its appointment in Madrid in odd-numbered years, is emerging, once again, as the largest business platform in our country dedicated to publishing in Spanish and one of the main and most solid references in the field of Spanish-language publishing. Everything points to LIBER 2023 celebrating a powerful and strategic edition this year, aligned with the upward trend that has been drawing the turnover of the sector in our country since 2021 and with the growth forecasts of the Ibero-American market, key to boosting exports.
In this way, the International Book Fair, which will be held from October 4 to 6, 2023 (Wednesday to Friday) in Hall 14.0 of the Madrid Exhibition Center, opens a scenario of great opportunities to boost the publishing business in its different perspectives and sectors, with special attention to digital content, new publishers, self-publishing and intellectual property. In this sense, the fair is specially designed to bring together a complete representation of publishing companies and entities, distributors, literary agents, multimedia, suppliers, professional associations, service companies, etc. A showcase that will offer the broadest overview of the current publishing production, becoming, during three days of activity, a focus of professional attraction for authors, booksellers, illustrators, and other actors in the sector,
In addition, and as a novelty this year, the fair will be held in a hybrid form and will incorporate the digital tool LIBER LiveConnect, an online platform that will be active for a year, expanding the scope of the fair in time and space, generating content and complementing communication and networking beyond the days of LIBER 2023.
On the other hand, and as in previous years, the FGEE is working on the implementation of different programs aimed at professionals from other geographical areas of special interest to companies participating in LIBER. These include the Buyers Program, organized in collaboration with the Spanish Economic and Commercial Offices and ICEX Spain Exports and Investments, focused on the groups of distributors, booksellers, and librarians, as well as buyers of Spanish books from different countries. Also, the Prescribers of Priority Interest Program, promoted in collaboration with Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), through which a selection of book professionals with the capacity to prescribe, decide on, and/or purchase Spanish books are invited to the fair.
The organizers of LIBER 2023 are also planning a wide range of professional and cultural activities and conferences. The various associations, organizations, and institutions linked to the publishing industry will participate in them and will debate, and analyze the most relevant current issues in the sector, with special attention to issues related to sustainability and the environment, the promotion of reading, as well as the problems of booksellers and librarians and education, among others.
