AI and sustainability in the publishing sector to be debated at LIBER 2023

Meetings, workshops, conferences, and presentations of highly professional content will take place within the framework of the Program of Activities presented this year by LIBER 2023, International Book Fair, organized by IFEMA MADRID and promoted by the Federation of Publishers’ Guilds of Spain -FGEE-, to be held from 4 to 6 October at the fairgrounds in Madrid. More than 50 sessions will be held over three days, bringing together leading experts from the institutional and business sectors linked to the publishing industry.

Nevertheless, they managed to reinvent their concept and offer the traditional literary experience by combining it with the cultural project of Cine Tonalá, thus creating unique and exclusive bookstore workshops that help to incorporate readers.

Around 1999, Gabriel García Márquez was in “La casa de América en Madrid” presenting a collection of unpublished stories. Out of the four stories the collection had, he chose to read just one during the presentation, later submitting it to The New Yorker. Said story would become one of the many chapters of the novel titled «Meeting in August», a work Márquez never published due to constant rewrites of the ending.

The GSR Foundation and the Madrid Publishers Association have reached a collaboration agreement to offer 9 summer courses on the PARIX platform. A school for the Spanish book.
The aim of the 9 summer courses is to take advantage of the ‘quieter’ months for publishers to provide answers, with these training courses, to issues such as digital marketing and catalog visibility, attracting customers on the Internet, or ways to reach younger audiences.
